Fordnutz Club History 2014

The Shelby show was held at Hallmark Ford in Surrey, BC on August 4th. 11 of the 150 cars on site were Fordnutz cars (10 Cougars and 1 classic Thunderbird). During the show, well-known Vancouver Sun journalist, Alyn Edwards, interviewed Scott Ferguson and Heather Whitaker about their Cougars and took several pictures. The one on the right features Scott's 68 XR7-G and Heather's 69 XR 7 convertible. It's nice to have one's 15 minutes of fame.

9 Cougars graced the venue at Sungod Arena in Delta, BC on August 9th for the North Delta Show 'n' Shine. While most cars came from the Lower Mainland area, Jeff Bingaman drove his green 70 from Federal Way, Wa. and Robert Nowland left his Kamloops, BC home at 4am in his purple 69 Rocky Mountain Special to join us. After the show, Scott and Heather hosted a barbecue at their home a few short blocks away. While the boys (Steve O'Connell, Harry Unruh, Bill Ronalds) looked over the cars, the girls (clockwise: Kirsten Waine, Heather Whitaker, Julie Joseph, Marlene Unruh, Cindy Friesen, Joan Ronalds) gathered on the patio.

Only 2 members entered their cars in the Downtown Port Coquitlam show on August 17th...

...but the crowd was huge.

Right: Among the hundreds of cars, Scott found a couple of "orphan" cats that did not belong to our club. He couldn't find the owners but did leave a business card with the hope that we'd see them in our ranks one day.

August 28-September 1 was the GVMA's International show in Richmond, BC but being a 5-day event, it was a little pricey for most of our members. Of the 500 or so cars, only 2 were Fordnutz representatives. Jason Wiseman took 2nd place in the Non-Mustang Ford Stock class with his white 69 Cougar.

September 1st was the CFFCC (the Falcon, Fairlane Comet guys) show. Even though many Fordnutz visited the show, only 4 entered their cars.
Right: This is Tom Wood's 64 Comet Cyclone A/FX 427 drag racer.
Other entrants were Bill Ronalds, Harry Unruh and Myron Pajak.

On September 21st, several of us made our last "road trip" of the show year to Yakima, Wa. for Ponies in the Sun.

The club's annual Christmas Party was held on December 6th at the Abbotsford home of Kim & Cindy Friesen.

As generally happens, the fellas seem to gravitate to the shop while the gals gather in the kitchen.
Boys L-R: Brad Carson, Grant Hadland, Tom Wood, Dave Segarich, Rob Waine, Terry Robertson, Scott Ferguson
Girls L-R: Kelly Vermette, Marlene Unruh, Marian Carson, Cindy Friesen, Heather (Friesen), Pat Segarich, Kirsten Waine, Julie Robertson

And the winners were:
L-R: Steve Goulding's 69 Aqua XR 7 convertible, Scott Ferguson's 68 Madras Blue XR7-G, Jeff Bingaman's 70 Competition Green coupe and Mike Warner's 67 Caspian Blue standard. The other two winners were Cascade Cougar Club's Ken Hogenkamp from Tigard, Or and Neal Jacobson from Camano Island, Wa.
