Fordnutz Club History 2002

In May with membership standing at 112, Grant and Maurlice Hadland took over as membership directors from Brad and Heather Whitaker. Heather became a "correspondent", reporting on Fordnutz activities, for the Cougar Club of America newsletter, and Scott became vice-chair of the Ford Car Club Council. Also in May, Scott was invited to bring his 68 XR7 to Hugh Boyd Secondary School in Richmond to give a little talk about auto appreciation and street racing.

In June we toured the Domaine de Chaberton winery in Langley, Scott created a "Members Only" section in the Fordnutz web site and two European students (Ali from Austria and Niklas from Germany) joined the club. They bought a 72 XR7 convertible to get them around while writing their Master's Thesis in Computer Science at SFU and soon became an integral part of the Fordnutz "family". In July, Lois Edwards resigned as newsletter editor, the position reverting to Scott who kept the name "Nutz 'n' Boltz News". On a rainy July 7th, 40 cars representing six Ford clubs attended a Ford Car Club Council picnic at Steveston park in Richmond and on August 10th we toured the car collection at Ocean Park Ford, visited the historic Stewart Farm in White Rock and had dinner at the ABC Restaurant in South Surrey as part of Fordnutz' Claw In weekend.
